If you’re facing this issue, you might have already observed that even after signing in with correct credentials and verifying yourself, there are no changes in the situation and the notification keeps popping up. After investing a bit on this, we found that old credentials saved by Windows Credential Manager is the root cause for this problem. Hence if you remove old passwords saved by Windows, this issue can be resolved then. Here is how:

1. Press W8K + R and type explorer shell:::{1206F5F1-0569-412C-8FEC-3204630DFB70} in the Run dialog box, hit Enter key to open Credential Manager snap-in.

See this fix if you can’t open Credential Manager in Windows 10.

2. In Credential Manager window, switch to Windows Credentials tab. Then scroll down and expand Generic Credentials section. Here, you’ll find that your Microsoft account is listed via MicrosoftAccount:user=<Microsoft Account> name. Click on downward arrow next to it and then click Remove.

3. Click Yes in following window to confirm your choice. Close Credential Manager.

Once you removed old credentials, you should verify your existing Microsoft account once and the issue will be resolved by that.
