We all know that Windows 11 or the prior Windows versions have the Run dialog box that is available with the same classic design. Recently, Microsoft introduced a new modern design Run dialogue box and that is now being rolled out to the Windows Insiders atm. So if you are the Windows Insider or in Dev or Beta channel, you can unlock this latest modern Run dialog box in your Windows 11 system. In this guide I will show you how you can unlock this with the help of Settings app or by editing registry.

To enable the modern run dialog box, you must have the latest preview version of Windows 11. I have shown below mentioned the steps on the Windows 11 Preview build 26220.7523 inside the Dev channel.

Enable using Settings app

1. Open the Settings app and go to System.

2. Under System, go to Advanced system settings.

3. There you will be able to locate the option Run dialog. By default this option is turned off and you have to simply turn it on to enable the feature.

4. Now you can close the Settings app.

Then you can press Windows + R, you can also right click on Start button and select Run. You should be now able to spot the latest or modern design Run dialog box.

Enable using registry

1. Open Registry Editor by running regedit command

2. When the Registry Editor opens, go to following registry location:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\TaskbarDeveloperSettings

3. In the right side of TaskbarDeveloperSettings registry key, locate or create or update the Run DWORD to Value data 1.

4. Once this is done, you can close the Registry Editor.

Now you can simply restart the Windows Explorer process or you can simply sign out and then sign in back to your account to make the changes effective.

At the final you should be able to see the modern design run dialogue box in your Windows 11:
